Goal Setting for 2019
By Mairead Mackle
We have started into a new year and it’s time to remove anything that brought you down in 2018. Say goodbye to the bad habits and negative thoughts that have been holding you back. It’s a new year, time for new opportunities and change! Begin by making a list of things you want to accomplish throughout 2019. Personally, I have been using my Evolve journal to note monthly and weekly goals I want to achieve. I feel like I’m making progress but taking it one step at a time - it’s an excellent way to stay focused and start to build up to new habits!
Strategies to Keep you Evolving
“There’s never enough time to do everything, but there’s always enough time to do the most important thing.”
- John C Maxwell
Prioritising is all about focusing on the important things and letting everything else go. When you have a lot on your plate its essential to take time out and evaluate, consider what needs to be done and try to prioritise.
Stay True to Yourself
Always remember that everyone’s journey is their own, don’t compare yourself to others. When you’re setting your goals for the year, take time to really think about what changes you want to see for yourself and not just for those around you. Though it can be challenging, once you can identify what change you want to see, putting it into action can be simple and effective.
Know that you are Enough
“Our habits will either make us or break us. We become what we repeatedly do.”
- Sean Convey
It is easy to blame and be harsh on ourselves when things aren’t going to plan, but I think its time to finally put an end to this negative monologue. In 2019, lets get into the habit of positive reinforcement. Don’t forget to stand back and take stock of your successes. At times, we get all to hung up on focusing on the next big thing, when we have so much to be proud of in the here and now. Be present in the moment, appreciating what you have right now and how far you’ve come from where you started, even in the pursuit of your next venture!
By building these strategies into your life, you will start 2019 with a strong grasp of what you need to prioritise, you will focus on the necessary next step and feel a sense of self-worth and value which will propel you towards your goals. Go and find success in 2019!
