Meghan Markle: Advice on Her Top Ten Fashion Must Haves
By Mairead Mackle
She’s chic, she’s on trend and her name is on the tip of everyone’s lips at the minute. So, we thought what better way to give some dress for success tips, than to take them from the woman of the hour, Meghan Markle
Find Comfort in Flats
As well as being a top tip from Meghan’s own wardrobe, good quality flats were a runway sensation for 2019. Their versatility means they can be worn as casually as we like or they can be dressed up for a more sophisticated look.
Confidence in Colour
The colours of 2019 range from coral, yellow and powder blue to oat, eygptian blue and olive. Keep an eye on the high street for the colours of the season. As well as stocking up on the necessary blacks, navy and caramels, add a sparkle of colour to your collection for those show stopping appointments where you want to stand out.
There really is nothing like a good cardigan to make us feel cosy and snug on those cold winter days. Meghan shows us how to dress in style when we shop for the cashmere look! Either style looks good – the choice just depends on the appointment. With some of these favourites below I think you’ll agree this is a staple for every wardrobe.
I don’t think it’s possible to go wrong with a classic white shirt in the wardrobe. It’s one of those items that can pull us out of a tight spot if in a hurry, yet it can look so chic and on trend if worn with denims and flats or heels!
Does every girl need a good pair of heels? I’m not sure everyone’s into heels but I think having a pair in the wardrobe gives us breathing space when we have those dressier events to go to. Neutrals like nudes and tans, or even a good pair of black heels are a favourite of mine. They go with everything and can really set an outfit off. Comfort is key for me – so my advice, see this purchase as an investment and buy something that looks good and feels great!
There’s nothing like a classy accessory to style up an outfit. It can be anything from a fabulous neck piece to a gorgeous clutch bag. I often find that accessories are good for adding a touch of colour to an outfit. I like black as much as the next girl, so a stunning coat, or cute clutch really adds that vibrancy I’m after.
Dress it Up
You can’t go wrong with a structured dress. They’re suitable for everything from job interviews, to evening events to dinner with friends. The style choice is entirely personal and should be chosen to suit the style of the person wearing it. Take a look at some of these gorgeous options below.
Timeless items never get old, and a classic coat is well worth the investment. There are so many options to choose from with long to knee length to short. Knee length coats are probably the most versatile, and belted coats can be a great option to since they can be left open for the causal look or belted to accentuate the style. Black, navy or camel never date, but don’t be afraid to be more daring if your budget allows.
Standalone Summer Sass
Whilst Meghan show some classy stand-alone dresses, this year’s must have’s include sensible shorts and oversized hats. So, if you’re a lover of head pieces you’ll be right in your element. If you’re more of a dress gal than shorts, pick yourself up a printed or stipe dress it works for the Duchess – I think she’s rocking this wardrobe must have!
A good pair of boots is an autumn/winter must have and just like with flats and heels, comfort is key! The options are endless from ankle boots to knee length and neutral colours that go with everything to bold colours which stand out. With so much style to choose from the choice is entirely yours. Have fun while browsing through some of my personal favourites.
